3:1 [和合] 耶和华的话,二次临到约拿说:

    [NIV] Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:

    [NIV] 'Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.'
    [KJV] Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

3:3 [和合] 约拿便照耶和华的话起来,往尼尼微去。这尼尼微是极大的城,有三日的路程。

    [NIV] Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very important city-a visit required three days.
    [KJV] So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

3:4 [和合] 约拿进城走了一日,宣告1说:“再等四十日,尼尼微必倾覆了!”

    [NIV] On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: 'Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned.'
    [KJV] And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

3:5 [和合] 2尼尼微人信服 神,便宣告禁食;从最大的到至小的,都穿麻衣(或作“披上麻布”)。
    [新译] 尼尼微人信了(“信了”或译:“信服”) 神,就宣告禁食,从大到小,都穿上麻衣。
    [NIV] The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
    [KJV] So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

3:6 [和合] 这信息传到尼尼微王的耳中,他就下了宝座,脱下朝服,披上麻布,坐在3灰中。

    [NIV] When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
    [KJV] For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

3:7 [和合] 他又使人遍告尼尼微通城说:“王和大臣有4令,人不可尝什么;牲畜、牛羊,不可吃草,也不可喝水。
    [新译] 他又传谕全尼尼微,说:“王和大臣有令:‘人、畜、牛、羊,都不准尝什么,不准吃,也不准喝。
    [NIV] Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: 'By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.
    [KJV] And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

3:8 [和合] 人与牲畜,都当披上麻布,人要切切求告 神。各人回头离开所行的5恶道,丢弃手中的强6暴。
    [新译] 不论人畜,都要披上麻衣;各人要恳切呼求 神,悔改,离开恶行,摒弃手中的强暴。
    [NIV] But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.
    [KJV] But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
    [KJV+] 3680 But let be covered 8242 {with} sackcloth 0120 man 0929 and animal. 7121 And let them call 0000 to 0430 God 3581 with strength. 7725 And let turn 0376 each man 1870 from his way 7451 evil, 0000 and from 2555 the violence 0000 that {is} 3709
3:9 [和合] 或者 神转意后悔,不发烈怒,使我们不至灭亡,也未可7知。”
    [新译] 或者 神回心转意,不发烈怒,使我们不致灭亡。’”
    [NIV] Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.'
    [KJV] Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

3:10 [和合] 于是 神察看他们的行为,见他们离开恶道,他就后8悔,不把所说的灾祸降与他们了。

    [NIV] When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.
    [KJV] And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
